Chief Accountant

About the role

The company is seeking an experienced Chief Accountant to lead all accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support strategic decision‑making within a contracting environment, preferably in the MEP sector.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Financial Reporting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and manage the financial close process.
• Provide financial analysis, management reports and recommendations for strategic decisions.
• Manage project accounting, including job costing, work‑in‑progress, revenue recognition and profitability analysis.
• Monitor project budgets, report cost variances and verify subcontractor payments, progress billings and contract variations.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, tax laws, accounting standards and internal policies.
• Establish internal controls, coordinate internal and external audits and resolve audit findings.
• Supervise payroll processing, WPS salary payments and related provisions (leave, air tickets, EOS benefits).
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, liquidity and manage bank relationships.
• Lead, develop and improve the performance of the accounting team.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a chief accountant, preferably in a contracting or MEP environment.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and manage a small team.
• Strong knowledge of VAT, taxation, accounting standards and internal controls.
