Director of Engineering

About the role

The Director of Engineering is responsible for the overall maintenance of the building, grounds and physical plant at the Ritz‑Carlton property in Diriyah Gate, Riyadh. This role ensures safety, security, asset protection and drives budget, capital projects, preventative maintenance and energy‑conservation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage engineering operations, budgets and capital‑expenditure projects while monitoring controllable expenses such as heat, light, power and water.
• Oversee the physical plant, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration and water‑treatment systems, ensuring compliance with SOPs and regulatory standards.
• Lead the emergency response team for all facility issues and maintain life‑safety systems, fire‑fighting equipment and alarms.
• Supervise construction and long‑term preventative maintenance programs to protect assets and meet brand standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with 6 years of engineering/maintenance experience and technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical and plumbing, OR a 2‑year degree in Building and Construction, Engineering or related field with 4 years of experience and the same technical training.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, capital projects and a large multidisciplinary engineering team in a hospitality environment.
