Director of Maintenance – Plastic Manufacturing

About the role

The Maintenance Director leads all maintenance activities at a plastic manufacturing facility, ensuring equipment availability, reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. This senior position oversees preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, manages budgets, and drives continuous improvement to minimise downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies for production equipment and utility systems.
• Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programmes to improve equipment reliability.
• Ensure uninterrupted operation of extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, thermoforming, recycling and auxiliary equipment.
• Monitor equipment performance, analyse KPIs and implement actions to reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
• Lead, mentor and develop maintenance managers, engineers, supervisors, technicians and contractors.
• Implement Reliability‑Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies.
• Oversee equipment lifecycle management, spare‑parts inventory and capital replacement planning.
• Prepare and manage annual maintenance budgets, monitor expenses and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental standards and HSE requirements.
• Lead equipment installations, upgrades and expansion projects in collaboration with production, quality and engineering teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 120 months (10 years) of experience in maintenance management within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary maintenance teams, including managers, engineers, supervisors and technicians.
• Experience managing maintenance budgets, CAPEX projects and supplier contracts.
