Electrical Technician – Maintenance (SMP)

About the role

The Electrical Technician (SMP) will support the refinery and its associated facilities by performing electrical repairs, preventive maintenance, installations and switching operations. The role is based on‑site in Yanbu and works under the supervision of the Group Leader and senior technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily walk‑abouts of substations, report equipment status changes and abnormalities.
• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on substations and distribution equipment such as transformers, switchgear, power factor capacitors, MCCs, UPS, battery chargers and annunciators.
• Maintain process‑area electrical equipment including induction and synchronous motors, MOVs, electric heaters, heat‑tracing, cathodic protection, lighting and emergency lighting panels, soot‑blower control systems and electrostatic desalters.
• Execute switching, isolation and re‑energisation of motors, switchgear and other equipment.
• Repair and maintain beacon lights, emergency lighting panels and provide portable lighting during emergencies or shutdowns.
• Run weekly tests on emergency generators and perform motor and motor‑control circuit PM (meggering, PdMA, etc.).
• Carry out monthly and quarterly battery maintenance (refill, cleaning, tightening, charging, load testing).
• Perform regular fire‑alarm proof testing and report results.

Required profile

• Associate degree or diploma in Electrical Technology or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in industrial or refinery electrical maintenance.
• Saudi nationality.

• Loading arm and mooring hook electrical systems.
• Fire water monitoring, fire alarm and CCTV systems.
• Field‑located PLCs.
• Portable lighting, emergency generator testing.
• Megger testing, PdMA and battery maintenance procedures.
