Field Operator

About the role

The Field Operator is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of a combined gas‑turbine and desalination plant. The role ensures the plant meets availability, reliability, efficiency, generation and cost targets while adhering to strict safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine plant checks, log sheet completion and monitor alarms.
• Execute start‑up, shutdown and extended‑shutdown procedures according to approved operating procedures.
• Operate valves, start/stop pumps, and reset local alarms under the direction of the CRO.
• Carry out manual interventions during trip conditions and supervise safe plant run‑down.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as lube‑oil top‑up, filter replacement and de‑watering.
• Support the CRO during emergency situations and act as acting CRO when required.
• Collect and analyse water‑cycle samples (demineralised, distillate, portable water) when a chemist is unavailable.
• Raise work orders for defects, coordinate with shift engineers and assist maintenance personnel in fault diagnosis.

Required profile

• Practical experience with modern gas‑turbine and desalination plant technologies.
• Strong understanding of safety, quality and environmental management systems.
• Ability to follow detailed operating procedures and respond quickly to abnormal conditions.
• Good communication skills for reporting unsafe conditions and coordinating with maintenance teams.
