Sample Preparation Technician

About the role

SGS is seeking a Sample Preparation Technician to join its laboratory team. You will be responsible for preparing high‑quality assay samples that accurately represent original materials, supporting the company’s testing, inspection and certification services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare samples according to established procedures, ensuring both quality and quantity meet assay requirements.
• Operate and maintain sample preparation equipment on a day‑shift schedule.
• Deliver prepared samples to all laboratory sections in a timely manner.
• Follow strict safety and hygiene protocols, wear required PPE, and report any incidents.
• Participate in shift activities, report maintenance needs, and keep the work area clean.
• Maintain accurate records, handle non‑conformities, and take QC samples as specified.
• Inform management of laboratory issues, monitor stock levels, and support training initiatives.

Required profile

• High school diploma, equivalent, or bachelor's degree.
• Minimum one year of experience in a similar laboratory role.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow detailed procedures.
• Understanding of sample preparation techniques and equipment.

Required skills

• Operation of sample preparation equipment.
• Forklift operation (preferred).
