Senior Part-Time Backend Developer

About the role

Cargosrate is seeking a senior backend developer to work part‑time on‑site, helping to design, build and scale the core services that power our freight and logistics platform. You will join a small engineering team and contribute high‑quality Java code while collaborating with product and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Design, implement and optimise RESTful APIs.
• Write efficient SQL queries for PostgreSQL and MySQL databases.
• Improve performance, security and reliability of the backend stack.
• Integrate third‑party systems and troubleshoot issues.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional backend development experience.
• Proven ability to work independently and deliver clean, production‑ready code.
• Availability for 3‑4 hours per day, every day except Friday.
