Testing and Commissioning Engineer

About the role

The Testing & Commissioning Engineer will lead the planning, execution and completion of testing and commissioning activities for electrical substation protection and control systems. The role ensures that all work meets safety, quality, cost and delivery targets while complying with contract specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and manage all substation tests, preparing test plans and procedures.
• Carry out site tests of protection and control systems and update the testing schedule.
• Manage test equipment (digital multi‑meters, injection sets, watt‑meters, etc.) and maintain valid calibration certificates.
• Verify that tests meet contract quality and type requirements; issue and manage non‑conformance reports.
• Prepare as‑built documentation, centralise test reports and obtain required approvals.
• Back‑up and deliver equipment configuration files and protection relay settings.
• Ensure compliance with PMH, GRID Quality, EHS policies and IMS procedures.
• Coordinate daily activities with the client, recommend field changes and prepare final commissioning reports.
• Monitor safety procedures, permits, method statements, risk assessments and LOTO compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in testing and commissioning of electrical substation protection and control systems.
• Proven ability to manage test schedules, documentation and client coordination.
