Assistant Head Nurse

About the role

The Assistant Head Nurse will support the Head Nurse in managing the Antepartum‑Postpartum, Newborn Nursery, Fetal Therapy, and Labor & Delivery units of a high‑volume obstetrics department. The role ensures safe, culturally sensitive care for a diverse patient population, including a large proportion of high‑risk pregnancies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing daily operations of obstetrics and neonatal units, ensuring compliance with clinical standards.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence‑based maternal‑fetal care.
• Monitor patient flow and quality metrics, addressing any gaps in service delivery.
• Participate in staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
• Support the implementation of advanced obstetric ultrasound and fetal surveillance technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure from the country of origin.
• Minimum four years of hospital nursing experience, including at least one year in a leadership role.

Required skills

• Knowledge of obstetrics, postpartum, and neonatal care protocols.
• Ability to lead and mentor nursing staff.
• Strong clinical decision‑making and patient safety focus.
