Director – Asset & Site Management

About the role
The Director – Asset & Site Management leads the stewardship of all physical assets and site infrastructure for a heritage and cultural programme. Reporting to senior leadership, the role ensures facilities, utilities and environments are ready to support programming, events and visitor experiences safely, efficiently and sustainably.
Key responsibilities
- Lead asset and facilities management as the in‑house subject‑matter expert, overseeing hard and soft FM services, performance reviews and operational readiness.
- Govern FM contracts, ensuring service providers meet contractual obligations, quality standards and operational requirements.
- Provide engineering oversight for technical maintainability, operability and long‑term readiness of assets, including those operated by third parties.
- Develop and implement maintenance and technical service strategies covering MEP, utilities, building systems and technology infrastructure.
- Support design, build, testing, commissioning and certification phases to ensure asset operability.
- Monitor asset performance, identify enhancements and contribute to lifecycle planning and ROI optimisation.
- Lead procurement and oversight of specialised technical service providers.
- Contribute to budgeting, financial management and CAPEX planning with technical input and P&L summaries.
- Prepare internal performance reports on asset condition, compliance and service performance.
- Ensure reliable provision of utilities – power, water, waste and telecommunications – and coordinate infrastructure for programming and commercial activities.
Required profile
- Proven senior leadership experience in facilities, asset or site management within large, complex environments.
- Strong background in engineering oversight, FM contract governance and technical service delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to develop maintenance strategies, manage CAPEX budgets and drive asset lifecycle planning.
- Experience working with third‑party operators and coordinating multi‑disciplinary teams.
