Design Section Manager – Wooden Joinery

About the role

The Design Section Manager will lead all technical activities for wooden joinery products, from concept through installation, ensuring design accuracy, manufacturability and quality compliance. This role reports to senior management and works closely with project, production and installation teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical office responsible for shop drawings, production drawings and material specifications, reviewing and approving submittals to meet project and industry standards.
• Supervise detailed design development using AutoCAD, Inventor or SolidWorks, coordinate with architects, consultants and clients, and resolve design conflicts before production.
• Translate project requirements into manufacturing packages, support CNC programming, and drive material optimization and waste reduction.
• Provide technical guidance to production and installation teams, resolve complex manufacturing and site challenges, and support mock‑up approvals and site inspections.
• Introduce new joinery technologies, materials and manufacturing methods, and lead continuous‑improvement initiatives to reduce cost and increase productivity.

Required profile

• Proven ability to recruit, develop and manage high‑performing technical teams, with strong decision‑making and problem‑anticipation skills.
• Experience in budget monitoring, business planning and delivering projects on time, within quality and cost targets.
