HSWW Manager – Power Utilities Infrastructure

About the role
The HSWW Manager – Power Utilities Infrastructure is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing comprehensive Health, Safety, Wellness and Wellbeing programmes across transmission, distribution, substation and underground utility projects. The role ensures all construction and operational activities comply with company policies, legal requirements and industry best practice while fostering a strong safety culture.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement HSWW strategies, policies and procedures tailored to power utilities infrastructure projects.
- Align HSWW programmes with corporate objectives, client requirements and key performance indicators.
- Integrate traditional safety programmes with wellness and mental‑health initiatives such as fatigue management, stress reduction and ergonomics.
- Conduct gap analyses, maturity assessments and lead continuous‑improvement initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, local health and safety legislation and utility standards.
- Manage HSWW management systems, including ISO‑based HSMS frameworks.
- Identify, assess and control risks related to live electrical environments, work at height, confined spaces, excavation and lifting operations.
- Lead development and maintenance of risk registers, risk assessments, job hazard analyses and safe work method statements.
- Provide visible leadership on site, conduct safety and wellbeing walks, inspections and audits.
- Oversee implementation of site‑specific HSWW plans, permits to work and critical control verifications for high‑risk activities.
Required profile
- Proven experience managing health, safety, wellness and wellbeing programmes in power utilities or similar infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, local health‑safety legislation and utility industry standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead site inspections, audits and incident‑command activities.
- Excellent risk‑assessment and mitigation skills, with experience developing risk registers and safe work method statements.
