Civil Maintenance Engineer – Facilities

About the role

The Civil Maintenance Engineer is responsible for keeping buildings, architectural assets, and external areas safe, functional, and aesthetically acceptable. The role ensures compliance with KAUST standards, building codes, and industry best practices while monitoring maintenance quality.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the quality of civil and architectural maintenance works performed by service providers.
• Conduct inspections and audits of facilities, ongoing maintenance activities, and completed works to ensure compliance with approved standards.
• Participate in construction inspections, project handovers, walkthroughs, snagging, and verification of rectification works.
• Audit preventive and reactive maintenance programs, identify recurring issues, and recommend corrective actions.
• Perform condition assessments of civil and architectural assets and advise on repair, refurbishment, or replacement.
• Review maintenance plans, task lists, failure modes, and causes to suggest improvements.
• Support initiatives to reduce maintenance backlogs and monitor work orders.
• Investigate incidents and failures, conduct root‑cause analysis, and propose preventive measures.
• Prepare inspection, audit, condition assessment, and maintenance reports with technical recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in building maintenance, civil/architectural inspections, audits, construction, or facilities management.
• Experience in design, construction quality inspection, project handover, and snagging is desirable.
• Familiarity with maintenance management systems/CMMS such as SAP or Maximo is desirable.
