Consultant Anesthesia

About the role

The Consultant Anesthesia will provide expert anesthesia consultation and administer a full range of anesthetic techniques for patients at NMC Hospitals and Clinics. The role operates 24/7 within the anesthesia services department, ensuring high‑quality, ethical patient care in line with Saudi Ministry of Health regulations and accreditation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver anesthesia care using all available agents, methods and equipment while maintaining safety standards.
• Lead the anesthesia department, develop and monitor quality improvement plans.
• Maintain comprehensive patient records before, during and after anesthesia.
• Assess high‑risk patients, obtain informed consent and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Supervise registrars, manage controlled drug documentation, and respond to post‑anesthesia emergencies.
• Provide on‑call coverage, consult other specialties, and perform diagnostic/therapeutic procedures within the anesthesiology scope.

Required profile

• Medical license and clinical privileges to practice anesthesiology in Saudi Arabia.
• Adherence to professional medical ethics, CBAHI / JCIA standards, hospital bylaws and Ministry of Health regulations.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and commitment to continuous quality improvement.
• Excellent communication skills for patient counseling and interdisciplinary collaboration.
