Process Safety Engineer

About the role

The Process Safety Engineer conducts safety reviews and audits, interprets relevant legislation and standards, and provides specialist expertise in assessing and managing major accident hazards and risks.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update risk assessments and ensure compliance with HCIS SAF Directives.
• Lead site‑related risk assessments and develop action plans to meet annual and long‑term objectives.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHA) and day‑to‑day safety reviews.
• Participate in design change reviews and provide process safety input based on NFPA, ASME and API standards.
• Support incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and implementation of lessons learned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8‑10 years of experience in process safety, risk assessment and major accident hazard management.
• Demonstrated ability to influence a strong process safety culture.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams including operations, maintenance and engineering.

Required skills

• Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and HAZOP.
• Consequence modelling, fire and explosion analysis, flare calculations.
• Incident investigation, root‑cause analysis and lessons‑learned implementation.
• Emergency response planning and evacuation risk analysis.
• Process safety management, safety KPI monitoring and reporting.
• Knowledge of NFPA, ASME and API standards.
• Risk assessment and risk reduction recommendation documentation.
