Purchasing Manager

About the role

The Purchasing Manager leads the hotel’s purchasing function, ensuring all departments receive the supplies they need while controlling costs and adhering to hotel policies. Reporting to senior management, the role combines strategic sourcing, supplier management and team leadership to support the Capella brand’s service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inspirational leadership to the purchasing team, promoting the Capella culture and service philosophy.
• Oversee daily operations of the purchasing department, ensuring compliance with service standards, policies and procedures.
• Monitor and analyse hotel expenditure, generate monthly spend reports and forecast budgets for finance.
• Develop and implement best‑practice sourcing strategies aligned with hotel purchasing policies.
• Negotiate, draft and manage purchasing agreements and contracts with suppliers.
• Coordinate with all hotel departments to place timely purchase orders and manage inventory levels.
• Drive continuous improvement of purchasing processes and support inter‑departmental collaboration.
• Maintain a clean, organised work environment and ensure health, safety and security compliance.
• Plan rosters, motivate staff, and foster a positive working environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience in purchasing or procurement within the hospitality sector.
• Strong leadership and team‑development capabilities.
• Excellent analytical skills with a focus on cost control.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Good understanding of hotel operations and inventory management.
