Respiratory Therapy Technician

About the role

The Respiratory Therapy Technician provides comprehensive respiratory care to patients across acute, intensive, and step‑down units. The role involves delivering therapeutic procedures, monitoring ventilated patients, and supporting physicians during specialized interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Administer chest physiotherapy, including breathing exercises, incentive spirometry, percussion, cough training and postural drainage.
• Deliver therapeutic gases and aerosolized medications using appropriate delivery systems.
• Perform nasotracheal/tracheobronchial aspiration, intermittent positive pressure breathing (IPPB), and monitor patients on mechanical ventilation.
• Assist with cardiopulmonary resuscitation, safe transport of ventilator‑dependent patients, and emergency airway management.
• Support weaning from mechanical ventilation, CPAP trials, and bronchoscopy procedures for both therapeutic and diagnostic purposes.
• Conduct diagnostic tests such as pulse oximetry, bedside spirometry, peak flow measurement, sputum induction, and arterial line care.
• Document all respiratory interventions accurately and ensure compliance with infection‑control protocols.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and maintain equipment hygiene and supply stocks.

Required profile

• Formal training in respiratory therapy or a related health‑care field.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced clinical environment and follow physician orders precisely.
• Strong attention to detail for accurate charting and equipment management.
