Structural Quality Control Inspector

About the role

The Structural Quality Control Inspector ensures that all fabrication and erection activities for offshore structures are performed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with technical specifications, company policies, and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Verify material identity and conformance to installation drawings and specifications.
• Confirm fit‑up, welding inspections, and release of joints.
• Check dimensions and alignment tolerances using EDM, theodolite, dumpy level, and other measurement tools.
• Conduct random and in‑process surveillance to ensure compliance with WPS, weld consumables, qualified welders, and welding processes.
• Identify consumable needs, coordinate with procurement, and manage stock levels.
• Perform walk‑down inspections, generate punch lists, and verify corrective actions.
• Witness final acceptance tests and endorse all inspection records from start to finish.
• Maintain client interface to meet contractual and code requirements.
• Develop method statements, risk assessments, inspection & test plans, and checklists as required.

Required profile

• Diploma in technical engineering or equivalent.
• Professional welding‑inspection certification (CSWIP 3.1, AWS‑CWI or equivalent).
• ISO 9001:2015 auditor or lead auditor certification.
• 6–9 years of quality inspection experience on offshore structures such as rigs or jackets.

Required skills

• Electronic Distance Measurement (EDM) equipment operation.
• Theodolite and dumpy level usage.
• Welding inspection (CSWIP 3.1 / AWS‑CWI).
• ISO 9001:2015 audit expertise.
• Interpretation of construction specifications and drawings.
• Development of method statements, risk assessments, and inspection & test plans.
