Traffic Engineer

About the role

Parsons is seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer to join a new Project Management Office delivering major highway and infrastructure projects in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves leading traffic engineering design, analysis and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and deliver traffic signal, junction, temporary works and related traffic engineering designs.
• Define scope, schedule and budget for each traffic design task and monitor progress and resources.
• Prepare detailed traffic engineering plans, including signal designs, signing and marking, intersection concepts and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) layouts.
• Coordinate with surveyors, roadway designers and other subject‑matter experts to integrate their inputs into traffic control plans.
• Conduct traffic studies using nationally accepted modeling practices and analytical tools.
• Develop technical approaches, review results from others and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Support the overall delivery of traffic engineering projects, promoting safety and efficient transportation operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• At least 10 years of professional experience in traffic engineering.
• Proven ability to work in multi‑discipline teams and manage third‑party design reviews.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microstation, Bentley OpenRoads and Projectwise.
• Experience using traffic analysis tools such as HCS, Transmodeler, Synchro and SimTraffic.
• Knowledge of traffic operations standards (ITE, MUTCD, ODOT, AASHTO, etc.) and ITS design.
