Workshop Specialist – Welder

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Workshop Specialist (Welder) to lead our welding and fabrication team at our coastal contracting site in Umlij. The role combines supervision of workshop activities with practical welding, fabrication and maintenance work to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily welding and fabrication operations, allocating tasks and monitoring performance.
• Ensure all welding work follows drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
• Maintain stock of welding consumables and steel, coordinate material ordering to avoid shortages.
• Inspect completed welds for compliance and conduct quality assurance checks.
• Identify structural damage and recommend appropriate repair methods.
• Train workshop personnel on welding techniques, CNC machine operation and safety procedures.
• Support documentation, reporting and coordination between the workshop and office teams.
• Uphold health, safety, environmental and quality standards in all activities.
• Provide coverage for other supervisors as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in welding and fabrication within a workshop or construction environment.
• Strong knowledge of welding drawings, specifications and quality control processes.
• Ability to manage a team, allocate work and monitor performance.
• Practical understanding of industrial painting, surface preparation and mechanical repairs.
• Familiarity with stock management and material ordering procedures.
