Freight Specialist – Supply Chain

About the role

The Freight Specialist supports alfanar Electric’s supply chain by handling customs clearance for import and export shipments. The role ensures all documentation is accurate, coordinates with forwarders and authorities, and guarantees compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and review shipping requests (IBD) from purchase officers, resolving any discrepancies.
• Verify cargo descriptions against legal duty exemption criteria and initiate exemption requests when needed.
• Process IBD entries in the system and keep records up‑to‑date.
• Gather shipment details (packing, quantity, weight, volume) and confirm readiness with shippers.
• Determine shipment type (FCL, LCL, consolidation), obtain rates, compare options and release freight orders to the selected forwarder.
• Coordinate pickup and movement with shippers and forwarders, monitoring lead times from origin to destination.
• Maintain ongoing communication with forwarders and shippers, reporting any deviations.

Required profile

• Experience reviewing shipping requests and resolving purchase order discrepancies.
• Knowledge of customs clearance procedures and legal duty exemption criteria.
• Ability to process and update shipment data accurately in internal systems.
• Strong coordination skills with shippers, forwarders, and internal teams.
• Attention to detail in documentation and rate comparison.
